Vainquinm & Dona Paula
Category : - Goa Tourism Guide > Goa > Beaches > Vainquinm & Dona Paula
7 km south from the center of Panaji, Vainquinim is known around the world for Cidade de Goa, one of the best designed, and leading resort hotels in Goa and India. Such are its facilities that visitors who enjoy a luxury Goa holiday in Cidade de Goa always want to come back for more. The resort stands in front of Tiswadi, a highly productive agricultural land, which used to be supervised by the Jesuits during the Portuguese rule. The beach itself is secluded and quite pleasant. On its west is the Dona Paula area, a small, peaceful palm fringed beach backed by casuarina groves. Little further east is the Raj Bhavan, the State Governor's House. A viewing platform here presents beautiful views of the coastline across the Mandovi estuary upto Fort Aguada.
Hydro Sports Club, run by the Cidade de Goa and Dona Paula Sports Club offer a variety of water-sports. The Barracuda Diving India, also run by Cidade de Goa offers varied courses and dives, including open water dives. Thanks to the gentle breezes here experts rank this beach of Goa to be the ideal location for windsurfing and dinghy sailing. The conditions in the mornings are perfect for beginners, and the afternoons & evenings are ideal for the more experienced.
The Cidade de Goa has a variety of restaurants offering superb ambiance and food from diverse cuisines from Europe, Goa and India. Few other midrange and budget restaurants in the area specialize in delicious seafood and tandoori.
Designed by a native of Goa, and India's leading architect, Charles Correa, the Cidade de Goa is a fascinating, super luxury Goa resort incorporating elements of Portuguese Goa heritage in its layout. A few midrange typically friendly Goa hotels, some with seaviews offer good facilities including excellent food and small pools.
